They say it started right after the meteor shower.
I say its always been there.
The plants have been working up to this for aeons.
One by one people reported their plants all dying.
Water had ceased to sustain them.
Mass hysteria followed as the world wondered how
they would survive without such a vital part of life.
As always happens when a situation is dire, cults
began to form.
New religions preaching sacrifice to appease their
varying deities who were somehow all displeased.
As always happens people soaked up the messages
calling for death and more death.
People were killed by the thousands and their blood
was poured over nearby plants.
It worked.
The plants fed, grew and soon enough what was left
of humanity began a new civilisation.
We knew them as Mayans.
Their genocide saved us all.
